Vivo S19, S19 Pro launch date announced; set to come with a ‘soft light ring’ camera feature

After appearing on various certification and benchmark sites, the Vivo S19 series smartphones are finally going to see the daylight. There will be two phones, namely Vivo S19 and Vivo S19 Pro. The company has announced their launch date and also teased some of the camera features the two phones could bring to the table. Let’s have a look:

Vivo S19 series launch date announcement

Vivo S19 series including the Vivo S19 and the Vivo S19 Pro will launch in China on May 30th at 7 PM CST (or 9:30 PM IST).

In the announcement video (shared via Weibo), we can see the rear side of a Vivo S19 series phone, presumably the Pro model. Here’s what the video shows:

We get to see the so-called “soft ring light” feature. The branding on the phone calls it ‘Aura Light OIS Portrait’. We have seen this feature before in other Vivo phones, namely the V-series. As the name suggests, it comes in handy while taking portraits, especially under underwhelming lighting conditions. 

The product tagline is “Light of portrait, beauty comes from the east”.

Vivo S19 series camera features

• When using the main camera, the Soft Ring Light feature will “evenly spread” soft warm light in the frame. The soft warm tones are considered ideal for portraits. And when using the telephoto lens, the ring light will light up distant objects. The OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) will aid in stable clicks.
• The Vivo S19 series is said to bring “synchronised focus change” for seamless autofocus functioning. 
• Vivo has also employed various AI algorithms to optimise portraits. 
• The company also points out the use of leading lines and shadows to add depth and contrast to the images.
• It is confident about how the portraits could be better (on the Vivo S19 series) than its foreign competitors.
